Outdoor Education is an invaluable part of any student’s experiential learning - learning that is not only enjoyable and challenging, but learning that brings out the best in people and has relevance to their everyday lives. Outdoor education at Tuchekoi Outdoor Centre promotes the holistic development of a student:

1. Physical development: Students are involved in physically challenging activities playing games, running, hiking and paddling.
2. Social development: Learning what it is to live in community, work in a team and think as a leader, allows students to view the impact of themselves and their team mates on a situation. Exploration and discussion of social issues in a neutral environment can lead to positive changes in individuals and class dynamics. Students are challenged to think about their place in both the natural and man made environment. Our activities can be facilitated to focus on team-work, independence, self-esteem issues, lateral thinking, personal challenge and goal setting.
3. Mental development: The acquisition of hard skills, independent thought and lateral thinking are facilitated through all of the activities at Tuchekoi
4. Spiritual development: Time spent with others in an experiential learning environment and beautiful surroundings, nurtures the soul. There is opportunity for solo reflection and journal time.

Types of Programs

On-site - Students can sleep in dormitory accommodation or tents, eat in the dining room or cook their own food on camp stoves. The style of program will depend upon your aims for the camp. The staff at Tuchekoi specialise in developing sequential programs for returning students.

Off-site - Schools often choose full wilderness experiences in areas such as Cooloola National Park, Lake Borumba or the Noosa River. Travelling by hiking, canoeing, abseiling and camping can be a valuable metaphor for the ‘life-journey’ of a student.
