Abseiling - Initially developed as a means for climbers and mountaineers to descend after scaling the peaks and crags of their local region, abseiling has now been adopted as an activity on its own. As part of an Outdoor Education program it is used to develop skills, self-confidence and a sense of team. Tuchekoi has 3 abseil sites. Two are cliff-based sites on our own Mt. Tuchekoi and the third is a high challenge abseil from 60 feet up a tree. Big Ben Tree Climb - An activity that requires full group participation and cooperation to get as far up and down the tree as the group decides. It needs good communication, planning, problem solving, and peer support to achieve the goals set. Camp Craft - From simple take home crafts to bush shelters, camp craft can be designed to suit the age and skill level of the group. Canoeing - Can be designed to meet a variety of skill levels. We have our own small lake on which we can conduct sessions aimed at pure fun, basic skills or to more advanced skills. Some programs can include canoe expeditions of varying length on the nearby Mary River or Lake Borumba. There are 14 two-man Canadian canoes available for use. Capture the Flag - A full group wide area game that can be played purely for fun or with a strong ‘team’ focus. Two teams, Red and Blue, each have their own territory and their own ‘flag’ anywhere within their territory. The object is to capture the other team’s flag and get it safely to the adjudicator. Climbing - Our Indoor wall is often used as an integral part of a camp program or can be used in the event of wet weather. Climbing fosters personal commitment, goal setting, and group support. Environmental Awareness - Our properties have a number of differing environments, eco-systems and communities, and specially designed activities encourage awareness, investigation and interpretation. Expeditions - Near Tuchekoi are a number of areas ideal for expedition-style journeys. From single to multi day trips, go canoeing, hiking, abseiling and climbing in a range of beautiful locations. Houseboat on the Noosa River, hike on Fraser Island, abseil at Eagle’s Nest - We can design a versatile program to exceed your expectations! Flying Fox - Is an activity enjoyed by all ages. Be personally
challenged and have a lot of fun. The flying fox can also be used in conjunction
with the high ropes. Games - Form an important part of any program. There are energizers and group development activities that will set the tone for the rest of the program. We have a wide range of activities that can be modified to meet the abilities and ages of many groups. High Ropes - A continuous series of wire rope elements suspended 5 to 10 metres amongst the trees present a rewarding challenge. Participants take up to 40 minutes to complete the course. High Ropes fosters personal commitment, goal setting and peer support. Initiatives - Problem solving tasks which require a group to work together to accomplish a task, encourage communication, cooperation, trust, lateral thinking and teamwork. Low Ropes Course - The objective of low ropes is for students to cross from tree to tree using a series of wire ropes in various configurations. Low ropes fosters strong group support and trust. Mohawk Walk - a continuous course that is designed to function as a complete group challenge. Obstacle Course - At Tuchekoi is about 1.5 km in length and is designed as a group activity. There are 10 obstacles along the course each with a varied necessity for group assistance. Orienteering - Courses can be designed to use any of our property and neighbouring farms. Participants are instructed in fundamental compass use and then apply learned skills on the courses. There are 2 styles of basic level orienteering courses in a closed paddock. These have a number of individual courses within them. Pole Jump - A high adventure activity that challenges participants to take high, perceived risks and to function capably while under stress. From a platform 40 feet up a telegraph pole the participant, in a safety harness, is asked to leap 10 feet out to strike a ball. The activity can also be modified to suit younger participants. Prussiking - A method of ascending a rope using prussik knots, this technique is used by mountaineers. Utilises a group belay system. Physically challenging and fun. Rafting - requires a group to use cooperation, decision-making and planning to achieve their goal. Rafts can be constructed on a base of canoes or on tyre tubes, based on the age of the participants and time of year of the program. Rogaining - an orienteering activity that that allows for group decision-making and problem solving skills to work out the best way to collect as many markers as possible. It uses our entire property as participants move to collect markers in a set timeframe. |
